Texas Tech has flown to Las Vegas and is meeting with new newly minted UNLV coach about its head coaching vacancy, multiple sources told CBS Sports.
Several sources told CBS Sports that they expect Beard to take the job.
“It’s his dream job,” one source said. “There’s no way he’s not taking it.”
Beard was an assistant at Texas Tech from 2001-11.
He was recently named the head coach of UNLV, but the Runnin’ Rebels only currently have two players on scholarship and five official visits for the spring recruiting period.
The Red Raiders are attempting to replace Tubby Smith, who accepted the Memphis job on Thursday.
Beard went 30-5 last season at Little Rock.
