Pay-per-view action returns for UFC betting fans on October 25 with a UFC Featherweight title rematch between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes at UFC 179. Also on the UFC 179 fight card is a relevant matchup in the Light Heavyweight division between Glover Teixeira and Phil Davis.
The first time Aldo and Mendes met Aldo landed a knee to the head of Mendes for the KO win. Many expect this time to be different, despite the heavy -260 UFC 179 betting line on the champ. It might be worth the risk to put a few units on the 5Dimes +200 Mendes option this time, especially if the fight can get into the later rounds. If you’re looking for a better price in this fight the OVER 4.5 rounds is set at -115 at the sportsbook.
In the co-main event both Davis and Teixeira need a win to remain in the title shot picture in the division. Oddsmakers at 5Dimes currently have a -285 price on Teixeira while the Davis upset will currently pay MMA odds of +205.
This fight will come down to one factor: If Davis is able to take Teixeira to the ground he should win a unanimous decision in what could be a boring fight to watch. If Davis can’t take his opponent to the ground then he will be in for a punishing night which will likely see him lose a unanimous decision, much like he did in his last fight against Anthony Johnson.
The UFC 179 fight card will also feature the resilient Fabio Maldonado, who will be looking to get back to his winning ways against Hans Stringer. UFC 179 odds on him at 5Dimes are currently set at -165, while the Stringer upset will currently pay +125. We expect Maldonado’s toughness to be the difference in this fight as he battles his way to a decision win.
