MMA betting action returns on December 6 with two UFC titles on the line. UFC 181 will be headlined by the long-awaited rematch between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, while the co-main event will feature Anthony Pettis putting his UFC Lightweight title up against Gilbert Melendez.
Oddsmakers at 5Dimes have already posted moneyline and prop bets on the UFC 181 fight card. Current action on the main event has the champ listed as the -220 favorite while the Lawler upset comes with a +180 payday. These two fought to a close decision last time and the same is expected this time.
Better value may be found in the 21 prop bets on the fight including the UFC odds -125 price on the fight going Over 4.5 rounds. Hendricks by decision is currently an affordable +165, and if you like Lawler in the rematch the +380 option on Lawler winning by decision looks the best value on his most likely way of winning.
The co-main event is surprisingly handicapped closer than we would have thought. Pettis is only a slim -200 favorite at 5Dimes, while upset MMA odds on Melendez only comes with a +170 payday. We expect Pettis to dominate this fight, likely finishing his opponent within the first three rounds.
Pettis wins inside the distance at +171 looks to have great value, as well as the Pettis wins by decision at +180. We don’t really recommend the Melendez upset decision win, especially at the current payday of +249.
Heavyweights will also make an appearance at UFC 181. Brendan Schaub will battle Travis Browne for position in the Heavyweight rankings. UFC 181 odds on this fight have Browne heavily favored at -300 while the Schaub upset is currently worth +250 at 5Dimes.
Browne will be the tougher of the two with more MMA skill, but anything can happen in the Heavyweight division. We think the chalk is the best option in this one, as long as Browne is able to close the distance.
