Welcome to Vegas Sports Betting Cincinnati Bengals season preview where we will further discuss the odds of them winning the division, conference, and Super bowl offered by the best online sportsbooks.
Cincinnati Bengals had an impressive 11-5 record allowing them to take the division and advance to the playoffs. They were however heartbroken when they were eliminated by Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. They were able to come to a deal to re-sign quarterback Andy Dalton; he agreed to sign a six year contract with the Bengal valued at a $96 million. With this, the team has set Dalton as the leader to drive the Bengals on a road to success. Dalton’s contract took a big chug of the Bengals salary cap and for that reason the team managers were not so active with acquiring new players to the roster.
Offensively, their running game is considered somewhat average with Giovanni Bernard being the top running back; he provides speed to this offense and is good on both rushing and receiving side of the ball. The team also drafted rookie running back Jeremy Hill from LSU who is said to be Bernard’s back-up as he has impressed the coaching staff during training camp. As for the receiving side, well not so good news! The offense lost wide receiver Andrew Hawkins to the Cleveland Browns and 2nd slot receiver Marvin Jones, that had a foot injury last season, is said to be healthy and ready to return only by week 5 of the regular season. That leaves only A.J. Green as a primary target.
Defensively, the rushing defense did well last season as they finished off 7th best in rushing yards allowing on average 102 yards per game. This season suffered a huge loss in losing defensive tackle Michael Johnson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he was a big part of this Bengals defense; such a loss is expected to weaken their rushing defense this year. However, they were able to acquire safety Danieal Manning who is coming off of a broken leg and is said to be healthy and ready for the regular season; what is interesting here is that Cornerback coach Vance Joseph has talk Manning into being a potential slot corner for the Bengals defense. This will indeed give the Bengal much better pass coverage than last season.
