Welcome to Vegas Sports Betting New England Patriots season preview where we will further discuss the odds of them winning the division, conference, and Super bowl offered by the best online sportsbooks.
The New England Patriots are said to being the favorite of the AFC East division according to the odds tables. Last year, they got knocked out of the playoffs in the conference finals against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. With head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady on their side, the Patriots have a good history of making the playoffs. The last time they missed the playoffs was when Tom Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2008 on the opening day. Even without Brady coach Belichick was able to successfully adjust his offense with back-up quarterback Matt Cassel and ended the season with 11-5 record…. Not bad! But then again, they were just shy of making the playoffs. In the past decade, the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick duo have made the playoffs 9 of out the 10 times; For that reason, they are still considered the favorite of the division.
Offensively, the team let go of running back LeGarette Blount who had an outstanding season last year; young 25 year old running back Shane Vereen will take his spot as leading running with Steven Ridley as back-up. During the off-season, they were able acquire wide receiver Brandon Lafell from the Carolina Panthers; he will be paired up with Aaron Dobson at that 2nd receiver slot who is still recovering from a foot injury. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is healthy and ready to play as he comes back from an ACL injury; I highly recommend you consider the Patriot tight end for your fanatasy team as he is Tom Brady’s biggest target.
Defensively, they suffered a big blow in losing cornerback Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos and linebacker Brandon Spikes to the Buffalo Bills. However, they were quickly able to adjust when they acquired CB Darrelle Revis from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fill in for Talib; Revis will be working work with newly acquired cornerback Brandon Browner from the Seattle Seahawks. These two veteran players will play a big part for the Patriots defensive coverage as they contain much experience in that area of the field. In light of all this, the New England Patriots are expected to make the playoffs unless injuries prevail.
