Texas’ season has been so disappointing that its game against West Virginia is about as close to “must win” as a game can be at this point in the season. At 17-10 with a game coming this weekend at Kansas, the Longhorns can ill-afford to drop this game in Morgantown.
However, they’re down 11 at halftime, and their road to a comeback just got much tougher.
Third-leading scorer and senior leader Jonathan Holmes was ejected late in the first half of this game following this retaliatory elbow to West Virginia’s Devin Williams.

There’s not really an excuse for that one, regardless of whether Williams embellished it or not (which it looks pretty clearly like he did). Just a silly play by an experienced player who should know better.
Holmes was assessed a flagrant 2 foul, which is an ejection.
