Villanova went a perfect 6-0 against the spread in this year’s NCAA Tournament on the way to capturing their first national championship in 31 years.
The Wildcats were able to do so thanks to some historically good shooting. They ended the tournament shooting 58 percent from the floor – an NCAA Tournament record.
Villanova was able to ride the hot shooting in order to cover in any situation it seemed. From covering a huge 17.5-point spread in their opening round game against UNC Ashevillle, too twice covering as 2-point pups against a pair of No. 1 seeds in both Kansas and North Carolina.
What is even more impressive is the fact the Wildcats entered the tournament at just 15-17-1 ATS for the season.
But all that matters is getting hot at the right time and that is no different at the betting window.
With the SU/ATS win last night, Villanova became the third consecutive national champion to go 6-0 ATS during the NCAA Tournament, with Duke doing so last year and Connecticut the year before.
Villanova was 20/1 to win the national championship at the beginning of the season, according to the Westgate LV Superbook.
