Casual basketball fans are well aware of the Golden State Warriors’ penchant for filling the bottom of the basket, but sharp sports bettors are focusing on something else right now: their totals record.
Ahead of Wednesday’s road contest with the San Antonio Spurs, the Warriors are riding a ridiculous 11-game UNDER streak. Bovada opened the total for the tilt at 210.
During Golden State’s run, they’ve averaged 107 points per game while allowing a minuscule 98. That’s a far cry from their season averages of 115.9 PPG and 104.3 points against. The Warriors have done well in the absence of the injured Kevin Durant, as they’ve won eight straight games heading into tonight. That really shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering this team won 73 regular-season games without Durant last year, but it’s worth noting nonetheless.
In the Warriors’ UNDER tear, the average total they’ve faced is 216.5. Without Durant’s 25.3 PPG around and the defense stepping up in a big way of late, it’s been the perfect storm for UNDER bettors who are tailing them.
After topping the Houston Rockets 113-106 on Tuesday, Stephen Curry and company continue their daunting week with games against the Spurs, Rockets (again) and Washington Wizards on the docket. Head coach Steve Kerr has stated he won’t rest his stars in the stretch run, so expect the same sort of production from the star-studded group going forward.
