Warriors, Spurs and Cavaliers continue to dominate NBA title futures landscape

USA TODAY Sports

With the NFL playoffs in full swing, and only one college football game remaining, it’s that time of year to sneak a peek at the NBA and take a look at who Vegas thinks are the top contenders heading into 2017.

The favorites continue to be the Warriors 4/5, Cavaliers 7/5 and Spurs 6/1. The biggest jump comes via the Houston Rockets who opened in May as 60/1 and have since moved to 30/1, tying them with the Celtics for the sixth best odds to win the 2016-17 NBA Championship.

As far as disappointing teams, no one can compare to the Miami Heat. The one-time most hated team in sports opened as 25/1 and have since plummeted to 5000/1, tying them with the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets for lowest odds. That’s what happens when you lose LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and get nothing in return.
