UC-Irvine’s 61-60 overtime win at Central Florida will always be in the record books for college basketball’s tallest matchup ever, the Anteaters’ 7-foot-6 center Mamadou Ndiaye against the Knights’ 7-6 Tacko Fall, but the game itself also gave us a couple great highlights and a thrilling finish.
When Ndiaye and Fall battled in the paint, it was impossible to turn your attention away. Fall got the best of Ndiaye early, though the best was ahead for this historic matchup.
UCF forward A.J. Davis put up his nomination for dunk of the night, going baseline and taking off against Ndiaye.
While Ndiaye came up on the wrong end of those two highlights and finished just 1 for 5 from the field with some foul trouble, UC-Irvine picked up a tough road win thanks mostly to a 22-point performance from Luke Nelson. The Knights got a great game from Davis, in addition to the dunk above, and Fall finished with six points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
