Virginia was up against it, facing a white-hot freshman in Bryant Crawford as Wake Forest was pulling away in the middle of the second half Tuesday. Set to be the Cavaliers’ fourth straight road loss, dropping UVA to 4-4 in conference play, Malcolm Brogdon had other plans.
The senior preseason ACC co-Player of the Year had 28 points and seven rebounds and had one of three Virginia 3-pointers in the final 20 seconds as the Wahoos climbed back from seven down to win 72-71.
Darius Thompson had the buzzer-beater to cap the comeback; it was his first points of the evening.

Virginia is not in this position if Wake Forest didn’t miss several free throws, but Brogdon’s performance and the team’s ability to scramble should give them some juice heading into Saturday’s game at Louisville, which can be seen on CBS.
