Former world champion in three weight classes and American boxer, Adrien Broner will step into the ring against Shawn Porter, a former world title holder of the IBF welterweight. The fight will take place this weekend during a boxing gala at MGM Grand in Las Vegas (United States).
Broner will probably be faced with his second biggest opponent this weekend since his rise in the welterweight class in June 2013. At the time, Broner had managed to win the WBA belt welterweight after beating professional American boxer, Paulie Malignaggi, in front of the audience at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
After his crushing defeat against Marcos Maidana which sentenced him to his first defeat of his career as a professional boxer, Adrien Broner took advantage of super-light weights class by fighting two weaker opponents: Carlos Molina and Emmanuel Taylor, including a fight against Californian veteran John Molina Jr. Broner seems to have lost his punch after this heavy rise in medium class. It will be interesting to judge the capabilities of Adrien Broner to repel the onslaught of good fighters in the welterweight divisional class.
“They say he is powerful, he fights me like a bulldozer.”- Said Broner. “No matter what he does in the ring on June 20, I am ready to fight.”
Coming out of a defeat on points against the undefeated British boxer, Kell Brook, in August of last year, Shawn Porter is likely to give Adrien Broner a hard time in the ring. Both boxers are of the same fighting caliber, but Porter previously resided from the super welterweight division. The Former IBF world champion is an aggressive boxer, similar to Marcos Maidana, who will try to push to his limits against Broner. The 27 years old (Porter) recently marked the minds of boxing fans after two consecutive victories against Devon Alexander and Paul Malignaggi, who got KO harshly in the fourth round by Porter due his incredibly aggressive tactics.
