For the second straight week underdogs won outright seven times in the NFL, sending another huge round of profits to the sportsbooks and leaving bettors scratching their heads and their wallets.
And for the second straight week, the VSB prediction computer churned out a modest 2-3 ATS mark in its Westgate SuperContest picks.
Also for the second straight week, Team VSB contestant Todd Fuhrman went 5-0 ATS to remain perfect and tied atop the leaderboard. He sagely predicted the Niners collapse to the Bears on Sunday night to complete the week.
Ben Eckstein, the maestro Vegas expert and author of Americasline.com, went 3-2 to remain within striking distance of the top at 7-3 (and the nearly $750,000 grand prize). And Kelly Stewart, the fast-driving, fast-talking host of KellyinVegas.com, went 4-1.
Rob Pizzola, the number-cruncher from theScore in Canada, rebounded from a poor Week 1 to go 4-1 in Week 2.
Overall, the computer was 10-6 SU and 8-7-1 ATS. So far, the decision making process on which five selections make the grade for the SuperContest has been lacking.
To its credit, the computer picked four of the seven underdogs that won outright (Dallas, St. Louis, Philly and Arizona), it called the backdoor cover by the Chiefs against the Broncos, and had the Rams upset in Tampa Bay called almost exactly (19-17 prediction, 19-14 actual final).
Check out the NFL computer picks for Week 3 and watch later in the week as we reveal which five selections will be chosen for the SuperContest at the Westgate in Vegas.
