The VSB Prediction Computer finally got back on the winning track in Week 9 of the SuperContest with a 3-2 mark after going 2-3 in six of the previous eight weeks.
The computer’s three winning picks were never really in doubt, especially after halftime when the New England Patriots (+3), Pittsburgh Steelers (+1) and Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) all cruised to victory. The Patriots, Steelers and Colts each totaled 40 points or more and outscored their opponents by a combined 58 points.
The computer’s other two SuperContest picks in Week 9 were the San Diego Chargers (+1.5) and Washington Redskins (+2.5). The Chargers were blown out 37-0 on the road by the Miami Dolphins while the Redskins just missed covering the spread in a 29-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings away from home. Overall, the computer had its best week of the NFL season against the spread, going 9-3-1.
Four other members of Team VSB enjoyed winning weeks, led by Jason McIntyre from TheBigLead.com, whose entry “Nothing Witty” led the pack with a 4-1 record. McIntyre also knocked off Kelly Stewart in their Week 9 SuperContest SmackDown video and pulled within two points of group leader Todd Fuhrman. In addition, Adam Kramer, the founder of Kegs ‘N Eggs, continued his winning ways by going 3-2 to improve to 11-4 over the past three weeks. Matt Ufford and Nick Kostos rounded out the winners for Week 9, as both of them went 3-2.
Stewart went 2-3 and lost her first head-to-head SuperContest SmackDown matchup, so McIntyre will take on a yet to be determined opponent in Week 10. It’s also worth noting that there is a new overall leader of the SuperContest, with Ch Ballers topping Alcatraz Holdings with a 34-11 mark following a 3-2 week. Alcatraz Holdings is now in a three-way tie for second place after going 2-3 and had either been in sole possession of first place or tied for the lead after each of the first eight weeks.
