Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt said senior forward Larry Nance Jr., who is the team’s leading scorer (16.3 points per game), will not play Saturday against San Jose State. He has already missed the last two games due to mononucleosis.
Shyatt said Nance, who also leads the team in rebounding (7.2 rebounds per game) has been in the hospital a few times and was there again Friday. The timetable for Nance’s return remains uncertain, but the team is hopeful Nance will be back by a Feb. 25 home game against Fresno State, according to Wyoming beat writer Robert Gagliardi.
The Cowboys (19-6, 8-4 Mountain West) are coming off two straight losses to Air Force and San Diego State. CBSSports.com Bracketology Expert Jerry Palm wrote Friday that Wyoming “were a fringe bubble team all along because of a very poor non-conference schedule, but these losses put to an end any realistic hope of an at-large selection.”
