Xavier’s Edmond Sumner removed from court on stretcher after collision

Xavier freshman Edmond Sumner was removed from the court on a stretcher Thursday after a collision at the rim with two Villanova players left him lying motionless.

The injury happened with 17:39 left in the first half.

Sumner reportedly was eventually able to move his extremities. He was transported to a local hospital, according to the television broadcast.

Xavier is 12-0 and ranked sixth nationally.

Sumner is averaging 11.7 points.
