Cameron Smith to miss upcoming season for Arizona State

The Arizona State Sun Devils were hoping for the best, but got the worst. After missing practices and the Sun Bowl to close out last season, WR Cameron Smith will miss the upcoming college football season with a knee injury.

“Obviously, that’s a big blow for us,” Sun Devils’ coach Todd Graham said. “It’s one of those things that he tried to work through it. It’s something he dealt with all year long. He got two or three different opinions and we just thought the best interest for him in the long-term was to have surgery and to get it finished. It’s kind of a lengthy, seven-to eight month recovery.”

The sophomore was third in receiving yards (596) and second in receiving touchdowns (six) for Arizona State last season.

Currently the Sun Devils are 60/1 to win the college football championship next season per the LV Westgate Superbook.
