Indians vs White Sox Betting Odds and Pick, September 15, 2016

The Indians will have a chance to go for the series win against the White Sox this afternoon after splitting the first two games with their division rivals. Cleveland sends Mike Clevinger (2-2, 5.01 ERA) to the bump to face Big Game James Shields as the Sox righty looks to end Chicago’s five-game losing streak in games he has pitched.

– Shark
  • The Indians are 11-3 in their last 14 games as favorite.
  • The White Sox are 1-3 in their last 4 games on Thursday.
  • The Indians are 4-0 OVER/UNDER in their last 4 games after a runline win.

Clevinger has been in and out of the rotation this season as the Indians have dealt with a ton of fluidity in their starting five. The Jacksonville native has performed much better as a reliever than as a starter this year, illustrated by opponents batting .190 against him when he comes out of the bullpen compared with their .246 average when he takes the starting bump.

Eek. I don’t think anyone would be relying on James Shields in any big games the way he’s been pitching lately. He’s given up an absolutely staggering 17 – yes, seventeen – home runs in his last seven starts. Shields has been godawful since being traded to the White Sox and has an ERA of 7.07 since the break.

The last time Shields faced the Indians, he gave up eight earned runs on seven hits and was pulled after just 1.2 innings. The total in this game is a little too high for me but if you can find a good price on the Indians’ runline, that might be the way to go.
